Kijitonyama Upendo Group is an audition choir of 12 singers with a strong commitment to missionary and philanthropic work in Tanzania. The group has achieved national fame for its music across Tanzania since it was formed in 1999. Using the profits from their recordings, the group has supported several vulnerable children through secondary school, and purchased a plot of land in Dar es Salaam with the vision of building a centre for vocational training and income-generating projects to create vital employment and skills training for vulnerable young people in Dar. As their hosts on Ishirini's recent tour to Tanzania, Ishirini is delighted to be hosting the Upendo Group on their UK tour in July.
The tour is currently in its planning stages, but please note the following dates: 2nd July: Concert including workshops with local schools and performance of Zimbe in Birmingham Town Hall 3rd July: Concert including workshops with local schools and performance of Zimbe in Shrewsbury Abbey 15th July: Concert including workshops with local schools in Queens' College, Cambridge 17th July: Joint concert with Ishirini in Stapleford Church, Cambridgeshire.
