St Mary's warm reception
- 28th of February, 2011
On a cold and damp afternoon on Sunday 27th February, Ishirini launched their tour to India in St. Mary's Church Alverstoke, and were thrilled by the warm reception they received from the audience. See some photos of our weekend here.
We're particularly grateful to the choristers of the church, who joined us to premiere out of the mouths of children by Peter Allwood, a piece specially commissioned for our upcoming tour.
The music was all connected to the famous Bengali poet, Rabindranath Tagore. The performances of Vaughan Williams Shakespeare Songs and Skempton He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven were particularly well received. Next stop Kolkata!
