Bulgaria, 20th - 26th August 2026

Ishirini is visiting Bulgaria in August 2026. Bishop Sioni of Velich has given us his blessing to sing in Bachkovo Monastery, and we will sing a short evening recital at the Regional Ethnographic Museum in Plovdiv. Our programme is inspired by the liturgy of the Vespers service, with pairs of pieces on the same or similar texts in Church Slavonic, Latin and English for our concert in Bachkovo Monastery, chosen to celebrate the festival on the day of the concert, the final day of the period of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. For our concert in the Regional Ethnographic Museum we have also included secular pieces also with an evening theme.

Friday 21st August 6pm: Vespers service, Bachkovo Monastery

Saturday 22nd August 4pm: Pop-up singing in Shiroka Laka town square

Sunday 23rd August 11pm: Singing for the President of Bulgaria, Bachkovo Monastery

Sunday 23rd August 12pm: Theotokos concert, Bachkovo Monastery

Tuesday 25th August, 5.30pm: Evening Song concert, Regional Ethnographic Museum, Plovdiv.
