Palestinian Choral Festival 2013
24th - 31st August 2013
Ishirini joined choirs from Nazareth and Bethlehem as part of a choral festival organised by Choir of London. After joint concerts with our partner choirs, a mass in Nazareth and an evensong in St. George's Cathedral, Jerusalem, the festival culminated in a gala concert with all the member choirs in Ramallah Cultural Palace.
In our selection of Renaissance and contemporary repertoire we explored how the city of Jerusalem has been represented, lamented and extolled in music. We also sang pieces from the Arabic world learnt during our 2012 trip to Jordan. In Shefr'Am and Beit Jala we were joined by our Palestinian partner choirs to sing these as well as Allegri’s Miserere.
