Scotland 2022
Scotland tour - April 2022
Glasgow, Oban, Argyll & Iona
Ishirini visited Scotland in April 2022 with a programme entittled Miserere, comprising reflections on the Passion Byrd, Allegri, MacMillan and others for the week before Easter. We were happy to be doing our first singing in person as a choir for over two years.
The tour began with a morning of rehearsing in Glasgow University Chapel, finishing with an impromptu performance in the beautiful nearby cloisters. We continued our rehearsals in the wonderful Grasshoppers hotel, where we were staying before our first concert in St. Mary's Episcopal Cathedral. The next day we took the train to Oban, for our second concert in St. Columba's church, where we were very warmly welcomed by Father James, and had a good audience thanks to our local friend Emily D'Silva.
The following day we enjoyed exploring the many different spaces in St. Conan's Kirk and the warm welcome (and excellent sandwiches!) extended to us by their Friends organisation. The concert was very well-attended and we also enjoyed a walk with fantastic views of the loch afterwards.
On the final day a small group of us made the trip by ferry and bus to Iona abbey, where we were privileged to give the first performance since February 2020.
